Abstract

In april-may 1865, Salvador Rizzo, consul of Spain in Larache, moved to the sultan Mohamed IV residence in Mequinez, leading a committee of expert militaries, with a twofold mission: training of the Moroccan army in European military techniques, and trying to sell some modern Spanish weapons to the government in Morocco. This article offers some interesting documentation as well as a detailed description of a less well-known Morocco so far.
