Abstract

Thries to present some considerations about the stance of the Berber dynasties in the medieval Maghreb towards Berber language. In spite of scarcity of sources on this subject, the material used for this study allows to conclude that none of the three Berber dynasties protected the use of the Berber language openly, nor did they fight for the appreciation of this language as a model and as an essential foundation for their political and religious projects, unlike Bargwāta, even though Bargwāt. a’s stance was linked to the Arab politics followed by the first Umayyad in the Maghreb.
