An encyclopaedia of desire: the term coitus in the Arabic sources and sexual lexicon through the Kitāb al-īḍāḥ fī asrār al-nikāḥ of al-Shayzarī

Seeks to obtain an erotic glossary of al-Shayzarī’s (XII-XIII) Kitāb al-īḍāḥ fīasrār al-nikāḥ (Elucidation of the secrets of lawful intercourse) by way of explaining thesemantic function of the lexicon in its textual corpus, after analyzing its literary value. Aprevious classification of the expressions referring to the sexual practice is included, accordingto their direct or indirect orientation as revealed in the Arabic treaties under themetonymical look of the Koran about the sexuality.
