This article represents a parallel investigation and description of the means to express possibility and supposition both in Spanish and in Russian languages. The authors make their conclusions on the base of the analysis of numerous examples from belles-lettres, textbooks, proverb collections, as well as their own notes of the colloquial speech. Some recommendations are given in order to optimize the foreign language teaching.
