The aesthetic aspects of the controversy between N. Gogol and V. Belinsky

In the late 1940s the friendly relations between the great Russian writer N. Gógoľ and the literarycritic V. Belinskijj broke down, what caused them many sufferings. The main reason for this conflict was itscontroversy, caused by the just-published work of Gógoľ “Passages chosen from correspondence with friends“(1847). It embraced the whole society of that time, changed its perception of history and public awareness,influenced the future of Russian literature. This article aims to try to make a philosophical analysis of theaesthetic aspects of this controversy.Downloads
