Abstract

A story “Chyudik”, written by V.Shukshin in 1967, having been published, was immediately percepted by the critics (and later by the reading public as well) as a typical model of Shukshin’s character. The little of a definite story has become a general definition, an essential characteristics of the hero. The word is filled with a rather wide content: “chyudik” – the main character is awkward, benevolent, shy, proud, compliant, unhappy and life-loving. In the article an etymological and archetypical analysis of the images from the writer’s story is presented, and it is stated, that to understand the essence of this character, the meaning of such words as “a magician”, “astranger”, “a foreteller”, “a sufferer”, etc. are very important. It is supposed that this image is connected with sacral symbolics, with the image of Christ. It is important that “chyudik” is a person, creating miracle and presenting it to other people.
