Abstract

This article analyses the psychological portrait of the protagonist of the Russian prose of the twenties. Dichotomous nature of the post-revolutionary decade brings the protagonist with split personality. Such a split protagonist is a replica of the contradictory reality after 1917. The conducted analysis allows the author to separate four types of homo duplex: split protagonists; double protagonists (antithetical); unimportant people; people-masks. The collected material allows the author to claim that internal split is one of the main features of the post-revolutionary man.
