Abstract

The research is dedicated to the exploration of the ancient roots, that came to the modern language from the most ancient times. They continue to exist and produсе new words in different languages. The present article deals with the primary root *mak- (*mah-, *maz-) that translates the sense of the action ‘to form smth from viscous material’. The meanings were transformed by metonymy.
