This article shows the evolution of historiography in Spain and Russia, analyzing the similarities and differences observed in the evolutionary process, trying to establish links between the use of a particular type of historiography and the teaching practice history in both countries. The central issues addressed are those arising from the social function of history in the various political stages through which have passed both Spain and Russia, which have affected both the understanding of historiography as teaching methodology in the same.
