Abstract

The present work centres on the study about one of the main families which formed the oligarchy what controled Granada’s city during the three centuries of the Early Modern Era: the Pérez de Herrasti. Here, their levels of fortune, their social prestige, their family and matrimonial strategies and their activities in the local power organs are analyzed.

Arrived in the city with the conquering Christian hosts in 1492, they participate, next to others powerful lineages, in the progressive control of the politic and economic life that the dominant social category effects.
