Abstract

Bartolomé Ruiz, beneficiary of the Incarnation Parish in Loja bequeathed his properties in 1674 in order to found an ecclessiastical College similar to the ones found in Cathedrals and Collegiate Churches. Martín de Ascargorta, the archbishop, ordered to buid the College fourty years later. The collegians, specially the founder’s relatives began to take part in the liturgical services despite the opposition of the sacristans and minor clergymen. The College Rector visited the Archbishop in order to inform about the incidents and to ask for advice about certain doubtful issues.
