Abstract

This research analyses some purposes of the andalucian city, Jerez de la Frontera, between 1648 and 1665, to get the privilegy of vote in the Castillian Cortes. Some historical documents concerning to the Modem History of this city, keeped in its Municipal Archive has been used in order to explain four important aspects in this process: Monarchy’s financial necessity; the persistency of the real action of the parlamentary institution; the importance of the relationship, and the influence of personal power, during the auction; and, otherwise, some obstacles, or another administrative problems that conducted to a failed project.
