Abstract

The group of works of art that form an integral part of the sacred Corpus procession in the Conception Monastery in Granada run by Franciscan nuns of the Third Regular Order is the subject of this study. We find a mixture of popular works —sacramental scenes made of clay— and more refined ones —the model temple and the monstrance— all possessing doctrinal and pedagogic value: together they emphasize the significance of the Eucharistic Sacrament for the life of the catholic and the religious order. We also establish that this dates, approximately, from the middle of the 18th century.
