Abstract

The author provides information on the role and importance of the «Town worker» in the locality of Baeza. This municipal post has not received much attention in the literature, and it is clear that the functions of the holder were quite different from those of the master of works or master builder. The post was first created at the end of the Middle Ages and its development from then until its disappearance towards the middle of the 18th century was closely connected with that of municipal works generally.
