La esfera religiosa de la mujer romana: espacio público vs privado

Resumen

En estas páginas se da una visión general de cómo el espacio público y privado influyó en las formas de religiosidad de las mujeres romanas. Aunque las diferencias no son todo lo claras que nos gustarían, no hay que olvidar que una devota debía ser capaz de hacer todo lo necesario para conseguir la estabilidad religiosa oficial y doméstica. Las fuentes literarias, epigráficas y especialmente las arqueológicas de Pompeya, nos acercan a las prácticas rituales donde la presencia femenina aparece simbolizada iconográficamente. Asimismo, sus actuaciones religiosas en la esfera pública se reservaron a organizaciones matronales que tuvieron un papel decisivo en determinadas festividades del calendario romano.
