Guardianship in the Family Justice in the State of Goiás (Brazil): work of Social Work in the promotion of citizenship

Abstract
Based on some of the results obtained in the research carried out in Brazil within the master’s degree in Social Work (ISMT/Coimbra), the paper seeks to problematize and reflect on the mediations present in the intervention of social workers as experts in legal actions of guardianship. Discusses and analyses the trajectory guardianship in Brazil and the career of professionals in these judicial processes. It aims to understand how social workers can embody themselves as defenders of rights and promoters of the citizenship of curated citizens and their families. A qualitative approach was chosen, and the methodological procedure used to collect the empirical material was a survey to professionals from the Court of Justice of the State of Goiás. The results conclude that, by not limiting themselves to evaluating the capabilities of the interdicted person to practice acts of civil life, professionals contribute to a better understanding of the limitations, constraints present in the social reality of the individuals and their potential. One of the main contributions of this study lies in the identification and analysis of practices that, by revealing the condition of necessity, lack of protection of people, constitute themselves as defenders of their rights and enhancers of citizenship
