Abstract

This work presents a longitudinal revision of what has been the teaching and learning process of the English language in Spain. The focus has been placed upon two aspects: first to identify the more relevant figures in the field of teaching foreign languages, in this case Joaquín Faria y Camargo, and second, to analyse his contribution to the field of language learning, his Grammatical Ingles. We want to know the methodologies and didactic resources displayed to help the Spanish learners acquire a domain of the English pronunciation. To do it, we took advantage of the textbooks produced for that aim, works and resources, which from our point of view have been neglected most of the times
