Unaccompanied Children. An Important Phenomenon in Spanish Society. The Perspective of the Workers in the Reception Centers

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to describe the profile of those minors defined by United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund as Unaccompanied Foreign Children and examine whether they enjoy or not, their rights in the shelters for unaccompanied minors, according the opinion of the workers in these shelters. Method: 30 workers of shelters for unaccompanied children in Granada (Spain) took on the processing of the research by using the quantitative method. Result: According to the Articles of the Spanish Constitution, unaccompanied children’s rights are respected at the shelter. Conclusions: The shelters offer to the children the opportunities to integrate in the community, respecting their own culture and customs.
