Design and Validation of a Questionnaire about Reading Habits of Future Teachers During Their Pre-University Stage

Abstract
Teachers and researchers concern about the training of competent readers and the incorporation of reading habits in our society, where young people seem to be more interested in other cultural and leisure activities. This study aim to design and validate a questionnaire on reading habits of future Primary school teachers during their pre‑university stage after consulting literature specialized in this subject. The methodological aspects of the planning process and the development of the instrument are included: validation of content and logic through expert judgment, and internal consistency and validity of the instrument construct, which was designed with scientific rigor and analyzed using the SPSS statistical program. Finally, this study show some results of the pilot test carried out by a group of 70 first year students of the Degree in Primary Education Teacher Training of the University of Granada with the purpose of boosting improvement actions. The results confirm that it is necessary to implement measures in the university population and bolster new investigation lines as well.
