The journal Miscelánea de Estudios Árabes y Hebraicos, sección Hebreo, proposes the following code of good practices to achieve the principles of integrity and transparency, with the commitment of all participants involved in the editing process:

 

Editors of the journal

  • The editors of the journal must ensure that all people involved in the editing process are aware of and comply with good scientific practices and ethical principles.
  • Members of the Editorial Board of the journal must be specialists in the field of study of the journal. The full name and affiliation of each member should be indicated on the website and in the print edition.
  • The Editorial Board agrees to maintain confidentiality regarding the articles received. They must be impartial and objective in their treatment and abstain from participating in the editing process of an article if they could have any conflicts of interest.
  • Editors must indicate the review system used by the journal. A manuscript will be reviewed by two reviewers, and a third one will be ensured in case of disagreement. The necessary mechanisms will be provided to ensure that the evaluation is anonymous.
  • Complete and updated author guidelines will be made public. The content and form characteristics to which the articles must comply will be detailed.
  • Published articles must be original and unpublished. It will be indicated if the journal charges any fees to authors for the review process, the frequency of the journal, as well as approximate deadlines for review and acceptance of an article.
  • The editor will provide review forms to reviewers to carry out this task.

 

Reviewers of the journal

  • The reviewer will accept an evaluation only if he/she is an expert in the field of the article. They also undertake to comply with the established review deadlines, communicating as soon as possible to the journal management when this is not possible.
  • All manuscripts are privileged information, so reviewers are requested to refrain from showing or discussing them with third parties unless it is to request advice on a specific aspect.
  • If a current or past relationship between the reviewer and any institutions or persons related to the manuscript could give rise to a conflict of interest, the reviewer should reflect this fact in the Review Form.
  • The reviewer should abstain from evaluating an article if they believe they may incur in a conflict of interest.
  • The reviewer should be objective and impartial, providing constructive criticism and clear and concise suggestions.
  • The reviewer will be responsible for evaluating the content of the text and should communicate to the editor any indication or evidence of lack of ethics.
  • Articles under review that incur ethical breaches such as data falsification or manipulation, plagiarism, self-plagiarism, redundant publication, or unnecessary fragmentation of articles will be rejected.
  • If the article has been published, and the journal detects or suspects any of these breaches, the text must be withdrawn, and the authors must be heard. Otherwise, the journal will proceed according to its internal rules.

Authors

  • Authors will respect the ethical principles set forth in major international declarations and codes.
  • Data falsification or manipulation, plagiarism, self-plagiarism, redundant publication, or unnecessary fragmentation of articles are considered ethical breaches.
  • Authors are responsible for the authorship of the article. Only those people who have contributed intellectually to the development of the work should be listed as signatories.
  • Authors undertake to submit original and unpublished works to the journal. Manuscripts that are being evaluated at the same time in another publication will not be sent.
  • Authors must mention possible sources of research funding.
  • If an author discovers a significant error in their article, they must communicate it to the journal for rectification as soon as possible.
  • The authors commit that none of the institutions in which they carry out their scientific and research work have objections regarding the publication of the manuscript submitted for evaluation.
  • The authors must ensure that the materials are free of copyright and take responsibility for any litigation or claim related to intellectual property rights, absolving MEAH, Hebreo of responsibility.
  • The authors must adhere to the publication rules set forth in the journal's Style Guide.
  • The authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions to partially reproduce material (text, tables, or figures) from other publications and correctly cite its source. These permissions must be requested from both the author and the publisher who published the material.
