This study, based on the provisions relating to the Jews contained in the Siete Partidas of Alfonso X the Wise, analyzes under what conditions the existence of the Jews was tolerated in the Christian kingdoms of the Iberian peninsula. Secondly, it discusses the causes for the rise in anti-judaism in the 14th and 15th centuries. It concludes by reflecting on the lessons of the past and how they can be applied in coping with the problems which affect a pluricultural Europe at the end of the 20th century.Downloads
