Abstract
The levirate is a biblical law, a brief but a conclusive norm, which in the legal rabbinical literature has a wide development. The update of the norm demonstrates the complexity of its practice, specially during a period in the rabbinical Judaism. The sages used to obtain an long number of halakot just from one Biblical law. In this case the rabbis increase the levirate law by means of the tradition and academic discussions.
