Abstract
According to Abraham ibn ‘Ezra, the letters of the Divine Name deserve this dignity and rank, not only for their particular phonetic value as ne‘lamim quiescent, which makes them the most versatile of the letters, but especially for their unique numerical value, that connects not only with essential aspects of mathematics but also those of geometry, cosmology, human physiology, ontology and theology. Abraham ibn ‘Ezra devotes many passages of his work to justify their origin, value and even their design, ultimately demonstrating the superiority of the Hebrew language. This article lists many of these passages, providing a systematic view of Ibn ‘Ezra’s ideas.
