Abstract

Yerushalayim was a supplement to the newspaper El Liberal (founded by Moshe Azriel and Hayim Ben-Atar in the early twentieth century) that started publishing in Iyar of 5669 (April/May, 1909). Its contents incluided national and international news, medical and dietary advices, literary works, stories and jokes, and so on. In this paper we try to place this newspaper in its historical context immediately after the Young Turk Revolution (1908)and we analyze some of its contents, paying special attention to Yerushalayim ideology and intention, criteria in the selection of subjects and potential readers.
