Abstract

Provides data about gardens and plants in al-Andalus as included in Andalusian poetry by way of collecting a representative sample of the descriptive and landscape genre called rawdiyyat and nawriyyat (poems about gardens and flowers). Materials gathered have been classified according to main subjects: general description of gardens and woods; trees and plants; flowers and their varieties; fruits and vegetables; and water in gardens and orchards: water wheels, streams, fountains, ponds, etc.
