Abstract

Discusses the views of Naguib Mahfouz on the various stages humanity has experienced throughout history, as included in his novel The Journey of Ibn Fattuma. In this allegorical work Mahfuz narrates the journey of the protagonist to various lands in search of a remedy for the ills of his own country. Each chapter is devoted to a territory, describing the same issues in all of them, so that a comparison can be made between the systems and civilizations prevailing in each.
