Abstract
Translation and study of passages relating to the carnival feast in the Mamluk Egypt, with special attention to the celebration of Nayrãz and al-maḥmal, with the support of historical and religious considerations, which allow for a confirmation of the persistence and diffusion of ritual carnival-like forms as symbolic means of social transformation.
