Abstract

Discusses the views Western travelers -Jewish and Muslims- to the area of Syria-Palestine held about the members of the three great monotheistic religions, as exemplified by two Andalusian authors, one Muslim, Ibn Jubayr, and another Jew, Benjamin of Tudela. Both lived and traveled in the twelfth century and marched from the Muslim West to the East through the most conflictive area of Syria-Palestine, where Muslim monarchs and Christian crusader kings reigned.
