Abstract

In this article, we will first analyse the approaches of Chilean medical science from 1884 to 1916 in relation to sexual practices between men (legal medicine, the theory of degeneration, criminal anthropology and neuropathol- ogy). Secondly, we will characterize the conceptualizations used by Chilean doctors and lawyers (descriptions that were hegemonies by medical science) in relation to sexuality among men: sodomy, sexual inversion, homosexuality and paedophilia.
