Abstract
This paper focuses on the definition processes of Andalusian cultural identity that occurred between the XIX and the XX centuries. Through a systematic examination of music for piano which appears in the Galería de músicos andaluces contemporáneos (Gallery of Contemporary Andalusian Musicians), a biographical dictionary by Francisco Cuenca Benet, we accurately extract and quantify the number of Andalusian composers and their works who gathered and recreated in their compositions not only Andalusian culture, but also Gypsy and Eastern influences that were a mark of our musical creativity between 1800 and 1925. In addition, we offer a complete inventory and location of these compositions at the most important Spanish libraries and research centres, as well as an analysis of the body of these works as a whole.
