Abstract
More than 95% of corn produced in México is white. In recent years the Mexican State has promoted contract farming in yellow corn in order to replace the importations of this grain that reaches 5 millions ton each year. This volume is needed to satisfy the livestock an industrial demand. Also in order to reconvert some land cultivated with white corn to yellow corn. The purpose of this paper is to study the implications of contract farming in yellow corn upon farmers, industry and mediator merchants; and to evaluate the success possibilities in front of an open market since the year 2008.
