Monitoreo del lago Boeckella, Península Antártica, de 1986 a 2023, mediante la detección remota

Resumen

La Península Antártica (AP) ha experimentado un rápido calentamiento en los últimos años, lo que ha provocado la degradación del permafrost. En el norte de AP, en Hope Bay, el lago Boeckella ha experimentado eventos de drenaje rápidos y repentinos en las últimas décadas impulsados ​​por procesos de termokarst. Esta investigación tiene como objetivo cuantificar la variabilidad intra e interanual del área del lago Boeckella Lake, AP, utilizando productos de teledetección de 1986 a 2023. Se utilizaron imágenes Landsat, Quickbird y Sentinel 2 entre 1986 y 2023, aplicando el NDWI para identificar el cuerpo de agua. La evolución del lago se divide entres períodos de tiempo según cambios bruscos de superficie. El primer período (1986-2003) marca la primera pérdida de volumen del lago el 4 de enero de 2001. El Segundo período (2003-2010) muestra otras pérdidas sucesivas de volume en 2005, 2007 y 2008. En 2010 se rompió la presa y El dique ya no fuere construido. En el último periodo (2010-2023) existe un systema multilacustre, con humedales de menor tamaño y transitorios. Su superficie minima en este período fue de 28578 m² en 2020, una pérdida del 30% de la superficie respecto a 1988. El área del lago Boeckella ha cambiado a lo largo de los años y las imágenes Landsat, QuickBird y Sentinel 2 combinadas con la técnica NDWI han podido demostrar la variación.

Possui graduação em Geografia (Bacharelado) pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (2011), mestrado em Geografia pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2014) e doutorado em Geografia pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2018). Atuou como professora colaboradora da UNIOESTE, campus Francisco Beltrão, no período de 05/2018 a 03/2019. Tem experiência na área de Geociências, com ênfase em Geografia Física, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Antártica, monitoramento de geleiras, Ensino Polar, Geomorfologia glacial, Sensoriamento Remoto e Cartografia escolar. Atua como pesquisadora no Laboratório de Geologia Ambiental (LAGEOLAM) da UFSM, Laboratório de Ensino e Pesquisas em Geografia e Humanidades (LEPGHU) e Centro Polar e Climático (CPC) da UFRGS.
