Abstract

Next to the town center of campo de criptana (a village of la mancha) is one of the most important sets of windmills in spain, which is identified with the one that could inspire miguel de cervantes for the famous adventure of don Quixote, shaping a cultural landscape of highest category. The  article presents a synthesis of previous studies and the proposal of intervention carried out on the landscape, in which together with the material restoration of the buildings, a management and planning of the set has been raised defining and planning their environment. For this purpose a spatial planning instrument has been drafted which makes an approximation to the patrimonial environment open to the territorial landscape perspective. in this sense, the plan converges with the tenets of european landscape convention about the need to implement policies in the field of landscape that establish intervention instruments intended to landscape protection, management and planning.
