Training and development of a line of research: Landscape dimensions of the archaeological sites

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to describe the development of a new line of research undertaken during recent years by the Centro de Estudios Paisaje y Territorio (landscape and territory research centre) concerning the landscape aspects of archaeological sites. the general basis of the subject are set out before we provide an overview of the various studies that have been carried out at archaeological sites of great historical and cultural importance (e.g. the roman city of Baelo-claudia at the Ensenada de Bolonia, the caliphal city of Madinat al-Zahra near córdoba and the dolmen complex at antequera). the specific details of each study will be described together with the process of creating a methodological and theoretical corpus with which to approach our investigations.
