Abstract

The most profitable activity in terms of organized crime is human trafficking, therefore, with more violations of human rights. This phenomenon is global, that is, all countries are vulnerable to this crime, and Mexico is no exception. Furthermore, our country is one of those that recorded a high diversion rate with respect to human trafficking. It is essential to combat this phenomenon because the Latin American continent is among the regions with the highest rate of human trafficking. In this article, we first seek to analyze the causes that lead to the commission of the crime—among them prostitution and the country's immigration situation. Then, we review the data and statistics for the years 2022 and 2023, in order to evaluate the performance of the last government in the aforementioned matter, in order to be able to give a forecast about the situation that awaits it on the horizon.
