Abstract

This article is a review of the justification for the foundation of university studies in criminology and criminalistic. It’s briefly shows figures on the alleged crimes in Mexico, reported by the minister of justice to the national security system, also, the classification that this country keeps according to two rates of perception of peace, thus justifying the origin of studies on criminology and criminalistic in the state of New Lion, Mexico, being the first region where the profession was established for reasons of increase in crime figures, already serving 46 years of its foundation. Finally, the issue of university social responsibility is addressed from these studies to the investigation of the criminal problem, the training of professionals suitable to attend to it, as well as social linkage, knowledge generation and results.
