Employability for the criminologist and criminalist in Mexico

This article briefly presents the creation of the profession of the degree in Criminology/Criminalistic in Mexico, with the main reason to show what was the objective of his establishment as a university career, replicating in different states of the country. It discusses what a criminologist/criminalist is, and the notions of his professional acting in the corresponding areas of Criminology and Criminalistic, what its scopes, limits and convergences are with other professionals, highlighting the need to work on an identity of the criminologist/criminalist and differentiate himself from other professionals, also addresses the need for specialization, which will allow to expand his work scopes. The curriculum and egress profile of the graduate in Criminology/Criminalistic of the Autonomous University of New Lion is reviewed, as referring to being the first Institution of Higher Education in the country to create the career, in order to identify the commonly labor areas related in the employment exchanges where the inclusion of this professional is considered. Subsequently, the purpose of this article is to propose to expand these career outings by weaving the curriculum with the functions of different government agencies at the federal level, as well as international bodies.
