Abstract

The text examines briefly the relationships between the Inquisition and the sphere of politics using recent researches, emphazasing their role in a complex scene. The institutional aspects of the Inquisition are described in first place, analyzing the multiple relationships with other State institutions. The activity of the tribunal is anlyzed in relation to politics, studiying also the intervention of the Inquisition in the context of the equilibrium of local power, and finally, pointing out some cases of direct participation in the service of the monarchy.
