Abstract

The compilation of several probate inventories for the household of meat-grilling masters in the eighteent century in Burgos makes possible, together with their memoriales of the Catastro de Ensenada, the realization of a critical analysis of their idiosincrasy, their levels of income and fortune and their material culture, in contrast to the other artisans and other socioprofessional categories of city. Although their annual reach —level of income— did not plunge them into the most impoverished poverty, the compilation of their probate inventories —level of fortune— aligns with those who had little of almost everything.
