Abstract

In this article I intend to indicate the public performance of one of our more important diplomatic of the century XVII, sir Alonso of the Cueva-Benavides, centering us in the two areas more important of the foreign policy of the smaller Austrias: Italy, in which together to the duke of Osuna, Virrey of Ñapóles and the Marquis of Villafranca, Governor of Milan, will form the triunvirate most important of this period, knowing themselves, such and as indicates the teacher Carlos Seco Serrano as “the Spain traditional in opposition to Spain officiar; and Flandes, in which will perform a notable labor as ambassador and personal counselor of the archduke Alberto and of the governing infanta lady Isabel Clara Eugenia, emphasizing the profesionality, the zeal and the loyalty in the defense of the interest of the abroad Hispanic Monarchy, since this was the only one form of defending the prestige of the Wreath, though this supposed to obviate the orders originating from Madrid.
