Abstract

At the beguinning of the XVIIIth Century, Spain and the Holy See are trading a Concordat, after a sequence of diplomatic problems. In the present article we transcript a manuscript of 1714 from the Archives of the Society of Jesus in Andalucía, written by Melchor de Macanaz, attorney general of Philip V. In this document, a typical exponent of the regalism ideas, we can find a censure about the Roman Court economic abuses in Spain, and a petition to the King in order to finish with facts like money escapes to Rome or concession of spanish benefices and pensions to foreigners.
