Abstract

The market of San Juan de los Lagos was an important regulator center of mercantile circulation in the late colonial period. This fact is demonstrated by the big amount of business done and by the value that some commercial transactions reached. Studying the market of San Juan de los Lagos it is of great interest since it allows to have knowledge on the regional origin of the products and of the merchants that they went to San Juan de los Lagos annually. The products preceeded from the interior of the colonial Mexico, from Europe and from Asia. Even it’s possible to know the final destination of them, often to the north near miner places.
