Abstract

This paper analyzes two reports on the coast defense of the sixteenth century Kingdom of Granada, in order to show the importance of written reflection on the transmision of military ideas, experiencies and practices in the Spanish Monarchy. That reflection influenced the formation of a common defensive space in the Spanish Mediterranean, in spite of internal political and administrative frontiers of the Composite Monarchy.
