In the face of the difficulties in the road that this country has been following for some time, an obscure road in which the right to self-determination flourishes like toadstools, that is, sovereignty claimed by various peoples or nations, the need to reflect on the concept of sovereign power has become evident. In this text the problem is tackled from three perspectives, factual, normative and rational. The inadequacies of the first two are shown, while at the same time a rational understanding of sovereign power is defended. This may perhaps contribute to a dissolution of the evil auguries that can be glimpsed in our future.
