The trilogy, state, market and family, has to introduced the gender perspective, as a mainstreaming dimension because the way to organise society, market and family establishes a structure that will be the cause of a greater o lesser equality in relation to the role and functions that men and women assume in these three fields. In this article, after analysing, the liberal and Marxist models, is proposed as more equalitarian between sexes, the social democratic model of state, which establishes a close relation between state, market and family, between private and public fields. It argues that employment legislation, fiscal policies and the organisation of social rights influences directly in elections and ways of life of citizens. The decisions taken in the family sphere about the time employed in the productive and reproductive tasks are not autonomous but depend on employment and fiscal policies.
True equality between sexes has to be build on harmonisation between personal, family and working life, that includes the reference to the care of dependent persons and self-care, and hence the importance of research on quantitative and qualitative methods of tasks of caring and the influence of the tax system from a gender perspective.
