The article explores how globalization is assuming a progressive emptying of the sovereignty of nation states in economic, political, institutional, social, cultural and legal aspects. The traditional legal institutions are increasingly giving rise to new non-state re- gulatory sources (supranational, private, technical and communitarian). The result of this polycentric regulatory complex is the coexistence of a diversity of normative orders and jurisdictions involving the exhaustion of the legal paradigm around which the State has structured its institutions.
