Chaos and complexity theories, science and law, complex adaptive systemsAbstract
This paper’s underlying theme is introducing a new dialogue between law and science, this dialogue resting upon the application of chaos and complexity theory in the legal realm. To this end, it comments several papers in which John B. Ruhl has devoted himself to such subject. This provided, it does not only describe both theories briefly, but also raises the issue of the straight or analogical implementation of the aforesaid theories to law, and discuss the several elements which, in Ruhl’s opinion, allow to deem the legal system as a complex adaptive system.
