¿De qué hablamos cuando hablamos de femicidio? Una aproximación

El artículo se ocupa del concepto de femicidio, el cual en los últimos años ha llegado también en Alemania a los espacios mediáticos y al discurso social. Se muestra que la definición y la comprensión del término son inconsistentes y que las definiciones comunes como «muerte de una mujer por razón su género» o «muerte de una mujer porque es mujer» son inexactas y engañosas. En su lugar se propone una definición objetivo-estructural, según la cual los femicidios son muertes de personas de sexo femenino o de personas que son percibidas como mujeres; muertes que encajan en un patrón de violencia misógina. Finalmente, se muestra cómo se puede aprovechar mejor el potencial discursivo del término «femicidio».
