Socio-educational action as a generator of convivence frameworks. Perspectives from the Peace Culture.

Abstract

We propose, through the following text, a reflection on socio-educational action for intercultural coexistence from a Peace Culture; To do this, we review the different approaches to peace studies that we try to link to the development of our societies and how they, through economicist perspectives, define the possible socio-educational actions. We delve into the impact that structural violence has, materialized through the economic approach, on the construction of the sense of community. In addition, we analyze the relevant role of socioeducational agents as catalysts for the relationship between citizenship and social structures, which highlights the current crisis of professionalism within the socio-educational sector, evidencing the absence of strategies that enable a mediating role in the emerging conflicts of this relationship, which allow the transformation of exclusionary societies into communities of practice, in which the reception of citizens, in recognition of their dignity and diversity, occupy a central role through community empowerment and sense of community. The review of socio-educational practices and the epistemological approach to social education from the perspective of the Peace Culture, interculturality and nonviolence leads us to a new proposal of action still under construction and for which some theoretical scaffolding is offered. Therefore, we provide an itinerary that allows exploring the possibilities for a more effective socio-educational action, which is directed towards the achievement of Human Rights and social justice through reflective processes and recognition of the other

Santiago Ruiz-Galacho, Universidad de Málaga

PhD candidate in Education and Social Communication at the University of Malaga. Diploma in Social Education (Extraordinary End of Degree Award), University Expert in Socio-educational Intervention with Family and Children at Social Risk, University Master's Degree in Research and Social and Community Intervention and University Master's Degree in Culture of Peace, Conflicts, Education and Human Rights (Prize Extraordinary End of Title). For more than ten years he has been a social educator in the different types of residential care resources (immediate care, basic residential care, therapeutic centers, counseling centers and socio-labor insertion) in various autonomous communities. He is currently the Director of various residential care centers managed by the Engloba Association and Honorary Collaborating Professor at the University of Malaga. He is Academic Deputy Director and teacher of the Title of University Expert in Socio-educational Action with Children, Adolescents and Youth in Residential Foster Care. His main lines of research are social pedagogy, the culture of peace, professional deontology and violence in socio-educational action settings.

Víctor Manuel Martín-Solbes, Málaga University

Doctor en Pedagogía por la Universidad de Málaga. Licenciado en Filosofía y Letras. Sección Ciencias de la Educación y Maestro de Educación General Básica. Es educador social habilitado, habiéndose desempeñado profesionalmente como educador en Instituciones Penitenciarias. Actualmente es Profesor Titular del Departamento de Teoría e Historia de la Educación y Métodos de Investigación y Diagnóstico en Educación. Coordinador del Máster Oficial Interuniversitario en Cultura de Paz, Conflictos, Educación y Derechos Humanos en la Universidad de Málaga, Director del Título de Experto Universitario en Acción Socioeducativa con infancia, adolescencia y Juventud en acogimiento residencial y miembro del Grupo de Investigación Teoría de la Educación y Educación Social HUM-169 de la Junta de Andalucía. Sus principales líneas de investigación son la pedagogía social, la cultura de paz, la deontología profesional y la violencia en los entornos de acción socioeducativa, contando con numerosas publicaciones en torno a todos estos aspectos.
