Abstract
We are aware of the success of Maḥberet in medieval Europe, but hardly have any news or studies on the impact of Maḥberet in the Andalusian Jewish generations immediately following Menahem Ben Saruq (late 10th-11th centuries). In the following pages I shall try to introduce how Maḥberet was employed by three great masters of the Hebrew language: Ḥayyūğ, Ibn Ğanāḥ and Mose Ibn Ğiqaṭela. A comparison shows that the most important Judeo-Arabic Andalusi philological works are based on and inspired by Menahem ben Saruq’s Maḥberet.
